Our programs are designed to enable the deployment of clean energy projects and support Puerto Rico’s goal of reaching 100% renewable energy by 2050 as stated in Puerto Rico Act 17 of 2019. We do so through programs that provide Financial Assistance, Technical Assistance, and Stakeholder Engagement and Outreach.

Programa EcoHogar is Puerto Rico’s first residential energy efficiency loan program, designed to help households lower energy consumption, reduce electricity costs, and improve comfort through affordable financing.
In partnership with Cooperativa de Ahorro y Crédito Jesús Obrero, EcoHogar offers low-interest financing for energy efficiency and clean energy upgrades in single- and multi-family homes. Eligible measures include high-efficiency air conditioners, energy-efficient appliances, solar water heaters, and solar plus battery systems.
Energy efficiency is one of the fastest and most affordable ways to lower electricity bills in Puerto Rico while making homes more comfortable and resilient. In Puerto Rico, many families spend a significant portion of their income on energy, especially during the hot summer months. Simple upgrades like replacing an outdated window A/C with a high-efficiency mini-split, installing a solar water heater to reduce electric water heating, or switching to ENERGY STAR appliances can translate into real monthly savings.
An energy efficiency evaluation is required as the first step to participate in Programa EcoHogar. The energy efficiency evaluation helps identify cost-effective improvements tailored to each home and ensures that financed upgrades deliver real energy savings. Energy efficiency evaluations are free for income-qualified households.

Programa EcoHogar is currently funded by the Puerto Rico Department of Economic Development and Commerce's Office of Energy Policy Programs through a grant from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Efficiency Revolving Loan Fund Capitalization Program.
