Our Team

Nellie Gorbea has over 30 years of leadership experience across government, nonprofit, and for-profit sectors. Known for her ability to drive innovation, diversity, and organizational change, she has consistently transformed organizations.

In 2024, she became the founding President and CEO of the Puerto Rico Green Energy Trust, dedicated to ensuring clean, affordable, and reliable energy to all in Puerto Rico. The Trust funds research, development, and infrastructure projects focused on renewable energy.

As Rhode Island's Secretary of State (2015–2023), Gorbea led technological advancements, increased business incorporations by 70%, boosted civic engagement, and achieved record voter turnout during the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2014, she became the first Hispanic elected to statewide office in New England.

Previously, she was the founding executive director of HousingWorks RI, a community economic development program officer at The Rhode Island Foundation, an associate at Fleet Securities, and an economic advisor to the Governor of Puerto Rico.

Gorbea has served on numerous nonprofit boards, including the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO), United Way of RI, and Women's Fund of RI. She is currently a Board member of the BoricuActívatEd and on the advisory board of the Puerto Rican civic organization Grupo 21.

A native of Puerto Rico and mother of three, Gorbea holds a master’s degree in public administration from Columbia University, a bachelor’s from Princeton’s School of Public and International Affairs and a certificate in Financing and Deploying Clean Energy from Yale University’s Center for Business and the Environment.

Marisol Bonnet joined the Puerto Rico Green Energy Trust in 2025 as Director of Programs, bringing over a decade of leadership experience at the intersection of energy policy, infrastructure, and resilience. As the Trust’s Program Director, she oversees the development and implementation of programs to facilitate access to financing for green energy projects, working closely with government, industry, and community partners to drive inclusive, sustainable solutions.

Prior to joining the Trust, Marisol served as Senior Advisor to U.S. Secretary of Energy Jennifer M. Granholm, leading federal efforts to support Puerto Rico’s energy recovery, including the deployment of over $2.5 billion in resilience and renewable energy investments. At the U.S. Department of Energy, she led interagency task forces, directed multi-million dollar technical assistance projects, and advanced national research initiatives on grid modernization and disaster recovery.

Marisol is known for her ability to navigate complex challenges, foster strong partnerships across sectors, and remain deeply grounded in the needs of the communities she serves. A native of Puerto Rico, she holds a B.S. in Environmental Engineering from City College of New York and is a certified Project Management Professional.

Eric Britton joined the Puerto Rico Green Energy Trust in 2025 as Senior Investment Officer, bringing over eight years of experience in clean energy finance, project development, and international advisory work. In this role, he leads the origination, structuring, underwriting, and execution of clean energy and sustainable infrastructure investments to catalyze private capital and expand access to clean, affordable, and reliable energy.

Prior to joining the Trust, Eric served as Senior Technical Project Manager at the U.S. Department of Energy, where he directed the $1 billion Puerto Rico Energy Resilience Fund and structured over $500 million in blended- and tax equity-financed projects for low-income housing. He also managed technical advisory efforts to help inform $12 billion in federal recovery funds for the Puerto Rico grid. Eric was recognized for accomplishments in this role with the 2024 U.S. DOE Secretary's Honor Awards.  

Eric previously worked at international nonprofits and multilateral organizations in the areas of economic and financial analysis, business development, and project management. Eric holds a Master of Science in Global Business and Finance from Georgetown University and a Bachelor’s degree from the College of Charleston School of International Relations.

Enid Flores is an attorney with over 20 years of experience in the banking industry, both locally and internationally. She has held various management and executive roles, including risk management, commercial credit, and business development. Flores has also worked extensively with non-profits, helping secure financing and providing business technical support. She became the Director of Finance and Administration of the Puerto Rico Green Energy Trust in 2024.

Her finance career began at Banco Santander, where she eventually managed a $1 billion portfolio and 20,000 clients, driving a $30 million loan increase. She later served as executive vice president at Banco de Desarrollo Económico para Puerto Rico and helped establish Puerto Rico's first micro-finance institution, Microfinanzas Puerto Rico, through Fundación BBVA.

Flores co-produces and co-hosts Tu Salud Financiera, Puerto Rico’s first live financial TV show. In 2023, she published Hasta que el dinero nos separe, a book on managing finances in relationships. Flores holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Puerto Rico School of Law and graduated with honors in political science and comparative literature from Washington University in St. Louis. In 2021, she became the first Latina Moderator of the Presbytery of Florida and the Caribbean of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church. She also chairs the Tina Hills Prize for non-profit excellence at Fundación Ángel Ramos and serves as Chair of the Board of the Puerto Rico Public and Applied Social Science Workshop.

Alexandra Nicole Mihailovic-Court is an operations and economic development professional with a multidisciplinary background in community engagement, program implementation, and organizational administration. She currently serves as Manager of Operations and Administration at the Puerto Rico Green Energy Trust, where she supports governance, operational coordination, and strategic initiatives that advance Puerto Rico’s sustainable economic future.

Prior to joining PRGET, Alexandra led and supported initiatives focused on strengthening local economies and empowering business communities across Puerto Rico. Her work at Foundation for Puerto Rico involved collaboration with federal partners, including the U.S. Small Business Administration and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, to implement programs that connected entrepreneurs and community leaders with economic recovery and growth opportunities. Following Hurricane Fiona, she led a business recovery initiative that contributed to national recognition from the U.S. Small Business Administration for its impact supporting small businesses.

Alexandra holds a master’s degree in Linguistics and is currently transitioning into the field of Computer Science. She also serves as President of the Board of Directors of the Sandy Hills Condominium in Luquillo, Puerto Rico.
