The Puerto Rico Green Energy Trust was created as a nonprofit organization by the Government of Puerto Rico in 2019 to foster and fund research, development and infrastructure projects that promote clean and renewable energy in Puerto Rico. The Trust was enabled as part of the Puerto Rico Energy Public Policy Act (Chapter 3 of PR Law No. 17-2019). It was constituted formally under a Deed of Declaration of Trust that defined its purposes, powers, trustee appointments and named as beneficiaries the people of Puerto Rico.
